Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta Joins Volunteers from KaBOOM! and Blue Star Families to build playground for military children at Fort Meade

Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta joined volunteers from KaBOOM!, Northrop Grumman, the Fort Meade Community Covenant Council, and Blue Star Families to build a new playground at Fort Meade’s Burba Park as part of the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance. The project also involves Operation Honor Cards, a Blue Star Families initiative to encourage Americans to perform service in honor of military families, veterans, and service members.

Blue Star Families announced today that are joining forces to remember 9/11 and to thank military families, veterans and service members. Kansas Town Joins Forces to Thank Military Families and Remember 9/11

Blue Star Families announced today that it has teamed up with the town of Independence, Kansas to remember 9/11 and to thank military families, veterans and service members. As part of the town's Military Memorial Display dedication, the town will ask residents and attendees to pledge community service in honor of military families. The community service pledges are part of Operation Honor Cards, a program to encourage Americans to perform service in honor of military families, veterans, and service members.

Blue Star Families and Six Flags Join Forces to Thank Military Families and Remember 9/11

Blue Star Families announced today that it has teamed up with Six Flags to remember 9/11 and to thank military families, veterans and service members. As part of Six Flags Remembers America, all active duty military members can receive free admission to the Jackson, New Jersey theme park and Wild Safari over September 10-11, 2011. Family members may also purchase tickets at greatly reduced prices. A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to Blue Star Families.

The White House Twitter Town Hall and the Military

Blue Star Families needs your help!  Today, Craig Newmark, founder of craigslist and craigconnects, announced a month long campaign to highlight and support nonprofits helping military families and veterans.  Blue Star Families and three other organizations will receive more than $100,000 in craigconnects grants to support our work for military families, but we need you!
