1436th Engineer Company Holiday Party
by Karen Alma
It is very common for most National Guard and Reserve Family Readiness Groups to have families more than 200-300 miles apart. This creates a sense of isolation for the service members and their families, and causes a difficult situation for FRG's, whose purpose is to connect and communicate with families.
So, the 1436th Engineer Company celebrated their 2009 Holiday Party in early December, bringing families together and giving everyone the opportunity to get to know each other a little better.
One of the highlights of the party was a cookie decorating table. The Blue Star Families Michigan Director brought over 650 cut out cookies, along with all types of colored icing and decorations. Parents joined their kids in spoiling their dinner and were able to meet many National Guard families in their unit that they may not have had the chance to meet before.
The cookies disappeared and it looks like fun was had by all!

Good job..
Good job on planning for this kind of enriching activity. Indeed, an opportunity like this will put a mark on every family's hearts. A time with your love ones is far way better than getting the best mortgage rates. Furthermore, family bonding is always the best way to celebrate the holidays.
