Presidential Service AwardBlue Star Families has the best volunteers! They’re the reason we’ve been able to grow and impact military families all across the world. We aim to recognize their accomplishments every chance we get and have several internal recognition programs, including the prestigious Salute to Distinction Award. We also submit all volunteer hours to the Presidential Volunteer Service Award website, where many of our volunteers earn presidential recognition year after year.

What’s pretty amazing, is that not only are our volunteers working to support BSF, many of them spend their time serving other organizations, too. In fact, two of our OCONUS volunteers earned awards outside of their service to BSF in 2015.

Patricia Vigil, Chapter Director at Osan AFB, Korea, received her squadron’s Volunteer of the Year award in 2015. She also earned the Presidential Volunteer Service Bronze Award for volunteer service over 100 hours.

Stephanie Dengel, Chapter Director in Ramstein, Germany, was named her squadron’s Spouse of the Year. She also earned the Presidential Volunteer Service Gold Award for volunteering over 500 hours in 2015.

Both of these amazing volunteers will go on to compete at a higher level. We are so proud of their accomplishments and wish them the best of luck going forward!
