Our friends over at Military Bridge have, once again, put together a fantastic list of national discounts being offered for the Memorial Day weekend! If you’re in the VA/DC area, make sure to check out their list of local Memorial Day offers, discounts, and events!



Observed: Monday, May 30th, 2016, A Federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May.  Memorial Day is a day for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s Armed Forces.

Many businesses nationwide would like to express their appreciation through a military discount/offer.  Below please find a list of many of the great military offers available throughout the month of May.  Feel free to add any to the comments and please help Spread the Word so more military members and families can take advantage of these great deals.

Colonial Williamsburg The historic attraction will offer FREE ADMISSION to military members and their families during Memorial Day weekend. From Friday, May 27, to Monday May 30, active duty military, reservists, retirees, veterans, and their families will receive free admission to the historic attraction.  On Monday, there will be a Memorial Day Commemorative Program from 10am-12pm.  Gather for a modern service honoring military veterans who died while serving their country. A procession with Fife and Drum support will proceed from the Palace to Bruton Parish Church and the French gravesite. Wreaths will be laid, prayers given, and volleys fired at each stop to honor soldiers of the American Revolution and Civil War interred nearby.

Blue Star Museums program. Participating museums will offer FREE ADMISSION to all active duty military and their families from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  There are many amazing museums in this program.  Click the link to learn more.

Blue Star Theatres:  Each participating Blue Star Theatre is offering discounted or complimentary admission to all military personnel and their families, as well as veterans.  Education programs and other theatre opportunities may be discounted as well.  This is a year round program.  There are currently 123 participating theaters with new theaters being added.

Military Tee Times: Is proud to provide an easy way for all members of the United States Military to enjoy golf by offering exclusive savings on tee times at thousands of courses in the U.S. and worldwide.  Military Tee Times operates with more than 8,000 course partners in several countries offering military discounts off select tee times.

Tucanos Brazilian Grill: National Military Discount Offer May 30, 2016 (Memorial Day) in honor of Military Appreciation Month—Military personnel and their families can enjoy a 25% savings on Tucanos meals purchased on May 30th. Tucanos also offers a 10% military savings to military members and their families year round.

McCormick & Schmick’s: Military Appreciation:  Offering FREE LUNCH or DINNER entrée on Monday, May 30 to Active U.S. Military Members and Veterans on Memorial Day.

Shoney’s Restaurant:  Free All-American Burger for Active Duty and Veterans on Memorial Day at participating locations.

National Park Service:  The National Park Service offers a FREE annual pass to military members and their dependents.

Waves of Honor:  This program offers any active duty military, reservist or National Guardsman one FREE admission each year to either Busch Gardens or WaterCountry USA The one-time visit pass is valid for the military personnel and up to three direct dependents.  Other parks included in this offer are Seaworld (Orlando, San Antonio, San Diego), Sesame Place, Aquatica, and Adventure Island.

California’s Great America: Military Appreciation May 28, May 29, May 30  On Saturday Boomerang Bay opens. We’ll pay tribute to our brave military service men and women by offering FREE park admission to active or retired United States Service men and women, including veterans, with a valid military I.D. All current or past military personnel can bring up to six guests for just $21.99.

Carowinds: Military Days: May 29-30 and July 2-4, 2016.  Join us as we pay tribute to our brave military service men and women by offering FREE park admission to any active, inactive or retired United States Service men and women with a valid military I.D.

Knott’s Berry Farm and Soak City Waterpark:  Knott’s Berry Farm and Soak City Waterpark Orange County pays tribute to U.S. veterans, retired and current military personnel with Free park admission Memorial Day Weekend, May 28 – 30, 2016.  This offer is valid to all past and present armed forces personnel. One complimentary admission is provided to Military personnel.

Up to (6) additional Knott’s Berry Farm tickets may be purchased at the military discounted rate of $44.00 for Regular Admission and $42.00 for Junior (ages 3-11) and Senior (62+). Up to (6) additional Soak City Waterpark tickets may be purchased at the military discounted rate of $36 for Regular, Junior (ages 3-11) & Senior (62+) Valid proof of military service with photo I.D. required.

Schlitterbahn New Braunfels American Heroes Week, May 30 – June 5! Active duty, Veterans, retired military, and first responders get FREE admission (and a 50% military discount on admission for spouses and dependents).

Michigan’s Adventure: 05/29/16, 05/30/16  Michigan’s Adventure will be celebrating Tribute to the Armed Forces by offering military personnel of the Armed Forces, National Guard and Reserve a FREE admission. In addition, military personnel may purchase up to six additional tickets for immediate family members at $25.00 each. Guests will be required to show one active military ID, DD-214, or Veteran’s Administration Hospital ID to qualify for the discount. Tickets purchased for this event are non-refundable and are valid for admission on one of the listed dates only. Tickets must be purchased at the park on the day of your visit.

Valleyfair: Valleyfair is honoring our Hometown Heroes with Military Appreciation Days during the Memorial Weekend (May 27-30) and Fourth of July Weekend (July 1-4)  Any member of the armed service, active or veteran, will receive a FREE regular admission ticket into Valleyfair. Along with free admission, members of the military will be able to purchase discount admission tickets for members of their immediate family (maximum of six) at a special military discount price of $32.00 plus tax per ticket. A valid military ID must be presented at a Valleyfair ticket window to receive this offer.

LEGOLAND® Florida Resort: Active duty U.S. service members receive complimentary theme park and water park admission year-round. Additionally, veterans, retirees, reservists, guard members and military family members can save up to 25 percent on theme park and water park tickets while receiving a second day free upon advance verification of military service.

Texas de Brazil:  Nationwide Military Appreciation on Memorial Day offering a 50% military discount for active military and veterans and Up to 8 guests. Plus, Texas de Brazil is offering a  20% military discount off takeout that day for all.

National Memorial Day Concert Washington DC, Sunday, May 29, 2016, 8 p.m. EST Gates open at 5 p.m. PBS sponsors a FREE concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. On the eve of Memorial Day, a star-studded lineup will grace the stage for one of PBS’ highest-rated programs. For over 25 years, this multiple-award-winning television event has honored the military service and sacrifice of all our men and women in uniform, their families at home, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The program will be hosted by Tony Award winner Joe Mantegna and Emmy Award winner Gary Sinise.

National Memorial Day Parade: Washington DC, Monday, May 30, 2016, beginning at 2 p.m. The parade of Marching Bands and Veterans units from all 50 states steps off at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Streets, NW and proceeds along Constitution Avenue, past the White House, ending at 17th Street. The National Memorial Day Parade is sponsored by the World War II Veterans Committee and includes patriotic floats and helium-filled balloons. The 2016 National Memorial Day Parade will include musical performers and celebrity veterans and supporters of the military, including Gary Sinise, Joe Mantegna, and Miss America. The parade will be televised live to U.S. service members around the world on The Pentagon Channel.

Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally:  Sunday, May 29, 2016. Departure from the Pentagon at 12 p.m. Speaker Program and Musical Tribute 1:30 p.m. at the Reflecting Pool across from The Lincoln Memorial. Thousands of motorcycles ride through Washington in an annual demonstration seeking to improve veteran benefits and resolve POW/MIA issues.

Sunday, May 29, 2016, 10 a.m. The Buffalo Thunder Memorial Motorcycle Ride will begin in the Sears parking lot at 2101 Brightseat Rd in Hyattsville, MD and end at the African American Civil War Memorial and Museum at 1925 Vermont Ave NW in Washington, DC.

Arlington National Cemetery: Flags-In. Soldiers from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) will be joined by service members from the U.S. Marine Corps Ceremonial and Guard Company, U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard, U.S. Air Force Honor Guard and the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard in placing more than 250,000 grave decorating flags at Arlington National Cemetery. The flags will remain through Memorial Day.

Monday, May 30, 2016, 11 a.m. A wreath-laying ceremony and concert will be held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in honor of Memorial Day.

  • Monday, May 30, 2016, 4 p.m. The Women In Military Service For America Memorial, located at the gateway to Arlington National Cemetery, will hold a ceremony that includes formal military honors, a keynote address, wreath-layings and the Memorial’s signature event, the scattering of rose petals in tribute to departed comrades. Members of the public are invited to join in the personal tribute segment of the program.

Navy Memorial  Saturday, May 28, 2016, 11 a.m. Rolling Thunder visits the Navy Memorial and holds a wreath-laying ceremony featuring special guests and live performances. Monday, May 30, 2016, 10 a.m. Fleet Reserve Association Wreath laying, 12 p.m. U.S. Navy Band Concert, 1 p.m. Naval District Washington Wreath laying.

World War II Memorial Monday, May 30, 2016, 9 a.m. The National Park Service and the Friends of the National World War II Memorial will sponsor a wreath-laying ceremony in honor of our veterans. Guest speakers will give remarks. The theme for the commemoration is “Honoring our Fallen Warriors.” Many surviving WWII veterans will be in attendance.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Monday, May 30, 2016, 1 p.m. Thousands of veterans and their families congregate at The Wall to remember and to honor the U.S. armed forces. The wreath-laying ceremony is open to the public.

Air Force Memorial Monday, May 30, 2016, 9 a.m. wreath laying ceremony is open to the public. Activities include the national anthem, invocation, speeches, the laying of the wreath and the sounding of Taps.

President Lincoln’s Cottage Monday, May 30, 2016. Take a free guided tour of the USSAH National Cemetery (predecessor of Arlington National Cemetery) at 10:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. A wreath laying ceremony will also take place at the Soldiers’ Home at 10 a.m. Tours of the Cottage will be available from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the regular price of $15 for adults and $5 for children. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch. Advanced reservations for Cottage Tours are strongly recommended.

New York City Fleet Week: Annual New York City Fleet Week May 25-31, 2016.  This is a Free week long event which includes Parade of Ships, Navy Band Concert, Larchmont Memorial Day Parade, Joint Aviation Event, Greenpoint Veterans Memorial Parade, College Point Memorial Day Parade, Maspeth Memorial Day Parade, Village of Hastings-on-Hudson Memorial Day Parade, Fleet Week New York Community Music Festival, several General Public Visitation (ship tours), 147th Kings County Memorial Day Parade, and several other parades which can be found here.
