A Hands-On Adventure, A Children’s Museum

aha blog 1

AHA! is a 4,000 square foot adventure space in Lancaster, Ohio featuring more than 30 hands-on exhibits and activities for children of all ages! The museum provides a place for your children to learn as they engage in their most important “work” of play. Kids can play bingo in a lake, build a house, climb aboard a fire truck, create in the art zone and even strum a laser harp. These are just a few of the many many interactive activities your young children can choose from during the visit. Get ready to see the smiles on your kids’ faces when they say AHA!

After your visit, be sure to enter Blue Star Families’ Way Cool Creativity Contest for a chance at fabulous prizes!

Here’s some insider information from the Museum’s Executive Director, Wendy Kaho:  AHA! is a place for young children and their families to explore and play together.

aha blog 2What is unique about your collections?
Our museum is a hands-on experience for children 6 months through age 8. Our exhibits promote hands-on, imaginative play, STEM activities through building materials and loose parts, water play and an arts and craft zone where a variety of art supplies are out for creative exploration all with a playful Early Childhood Education approach.

Are there any special programs at the museum that Blue Star Families should add to their calendar this summer if they are in the your area?
We do a themed activities each month through the summer. We are finishing Under the Sea, and then July is Space, and August is Wild Animals. A craft or science activity and story times follow the theme each day along with a take home sheet of ideas for play and exploration of the theme at home.

What are your favorite museum destinations?
Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, COSI, Pittsburgh Children’s Museum, Kentucky Science Center, Columbus Museum of Art, Ohio Historical Society

aha blog 3Why does your museum participate in the Blue Star Museums program?
AHA! participates in the Blue Star program because we wanted to support active duty military families with young children and offer them family time in the summer. We also offer a 50% discount the rest of the year to active duty families.
