For the 8th year in a row, the San Diego Symphony Orchestra is dedicating a special performance of their Bayside Summer Nights concert series to honor San Diego’s military men and women. This year’s event is called Concert Under the Stars. Thanks to the generous support of individuals and organizations in the community, the San Diego Symphony is able to put on this special event with absolutely no cost for military families. The concert, on September 1st, begins at 7:30pm but there are activities beginning as early as 6 at the Embarcadero Marina Park South. Registration now closed.
Last year’s event drew nearly three thousand military members and their families, and this year they expect that number to be even higher. If you are thinking you have never heard a live symphony before, you will not be alone. Many of the attendees are experiencing the power of a live symphony orchestra for the very first time. It can be a very powerful and moving experience and one that you should definitely enjoy in your lifetime. Be careful, sometimes symphony attendance becomes addictive. Luckily, the San Diego Symphony has a cure. There will be an equivalent concert in the winter called Home for Holidays when you can get a full dose of live music again. Enjoy this opportunity and then let us know all about it at Blue Star Families!
