Blue Star Families is an organization built on the strength of its volunteer network. These volunteers, who provide vital links to local military communities, give selflessly of their time, talent and resources. The Blue Star Families Salute to Distinction Award Program recognizes our outstanding volunteers who demonstrate exemplary service to military families and further the Blue Star Families mission within their respective communities.
It is our pleasure to announce the 2016 Salute to Distinction Quarter 4 Award Winner:
Robin Johnson, Chapter Director, San Antonio TX.
Robin has been with Blue Star Families since May. She has partnered with several local organizations to bring BSF resources to San Antonio. In just a few short months, she has amplified Blue Star Families’ presence in San Antonio. Here is a comment from her nomination letter:
“San Antonio is a busy chapter and Robin embraces that. She participates in every community event she can. She is always networking to find new ways for BSF to be involved. On top of that, Robin is an absolute joy to work with. She is willing to take on any challenge and she has the most positive, upbeat attitude. She is quick to respond to BSF staff, and she isn’t afraid to pick up the phone when she has new ideas to share. BSF is so lucky to have Robin on our team!”
In 2016, Robin volunteered over 400 hours of her time supporting various Blue Star Families events in San Antonio, including tabling events, panel discussions, resource fairs, and newcomer briefings. She coordinated an important service project in November, working with 19 volunteers to build a garden at the Lackland AFB Youth Center. She hosted an Operation Appreciation letter sorting party and worked with volunteers to distribute the letters for the holidays. Robin has also coordinated multiple Books on Bases events, giving away hundreds of books to military children.
We are so proud of Robin’s accomplishments. Congratulations, Robin, on being named our 2016 Salute to Distinction Quarter 4 Award Winner!
