The annual Blue Star Neighbors Celebration commenced at none other than the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., on the evening of Tuesday, May 14. Year after year, we host this exclusive event to bring together BSF supportersfrom the highest decorated military leaders to business executives, celebrities, Congressional delegates, and government leadersfor, yes, a celebration of the work we do together to strengthen and support our military families.

It was definitely a night to remember thanks to an unforgettable premier culinary tasting and the opportunity to strike up conversations with leaders of our industry and community. But don’t just take our word for it. Today, we’re inviting you to go behind-the-scenes through Instagram posts shared by Blue Star Families, our partners, and our friends. Enjoy!

The Celebration

People from all branches of service attended Celebration to thank their Blue Star Neighbors for their support.

The Big News

Kathy Roth-Douquet, CEO of Blue Star Families, announced a $1 million dollar gift from Craig Newmark Philanthropies to launch the Craig Newmark New York Tri-State Chapter. BSF honored Newmark with the Constance J. Milstein Philanthropic Award at Celebration for going above and beyond the call of duty to support military families in their communities.

The Top Chefs

USMC military kid, Shamon Hill, and Chef Chris Clime of PassionFish were awarded “Top Chef” for their delicious appetizer (Everything Bagel Crisp, Coleman Mustard Aioli, Pickled Red Onions, Chopped Eggs, and Capers).

The Drinks and Dessert

Dog Tag Bakery served rhubarb pie that paired with Edy’s ice cream and Starbucks coffee. Mixologist Todd Thrasher of Tiki TNT created a signature cocktail that was served, too.

The Supporters

Ultimately, this celebration wouldn’t have been possible without our extraordinary sponsors, volunteers, and supporters through the celebrity, congressional, and military leadership spouses committees. A big round of applause to those who continue to go above and beyond to ensure military families can continue to thrive while they serve our country!
