We’re in the tenth year of Blue Star Museumsan initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in collaboration with Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums nationwide. (Can you believe it?!) And even after a decade, excitement over this free admission program only continues to grow.

Why? Because more than 2,000 museums in all fifty states, including D.C. and Puerto Rico, continue to open their doors in the summertime and show their support to the military community.

Support meaning, those currently serving in the United States military—Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, as well as members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps, and up to five family members—receive free entrance into participating Blue Star Museums.

So to celebrate, we figured we’d share a look into how military families are enjoying #BlueStarMuseums while traveling or exploring their home base!

Remember, this is simply a snapshot of the countless memories being made while making the most of America’s cultural treasures found at art museums, science centers, botanic gardens, children’s museums, zoos, aquariums, and so much more!

Want to join in on the fun?

Of course, you do! So from now through September 2, 2019 (Labor Day), find a participating museum and rally the family together for an escape from the hot summer sun. Upon arrival, qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card for free admission. Then, share your experience with our family on social media using #BlueStarMuseums!

For access to more programs like this one and to stay in-the-know on various virtual and in-person events that support your MilFam, join Blue Star Families for free today. We can’t wait to welcome you!
