A Military Film to Watch: To Be of Service
To Be of Service is a feature-length documentary film about war veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) who are paired with a service dog to help them regain their lives. The film follows veterans before they have a service dog, to training at a service dog organization, and the months after they have the dog in their daily lives. The transformation, within months, is remarkable as they have their new battle buddy by their side. The film also reflects on the cost of war and suggests that, if we must send our soldiers into battle, we be sure to understand the cost, and to have resources in place to assure their well being when they return.
