This summer, Military Families Outdoors (MFO) invited military families across the country to step outside, slow down, and savor the season. Through our “Explore & Unwind: Summer Road Trips” campaign, families discovered new parks, trails, and adventures near duty stations and along PCS routes. Together with our partners—the Defense Health Agency, National Park Service, Blue Star Families, Wilderness Inquiry, and the Armed Services YMCA—we made it easier for families to connect with the outdoors and with one another.

Outdoor Adventures for Everyone

MFO programs brought adventure to military families in every corner of the country during the summer months. From camps with the Armed Services YMCA, where kids made new friends and tried new outdoor activities, to extended expeditions in National Park sites with Wilderness Inquiry, where families experienced the wonder of camping, paddling, and hiking together, to local backyard and nearby park explorations led by Blue Star Families, where families came together to discover the nature close to home, MFO partners made the outdoors accessible, exciting, and restorative.
