Crystal Gates is a military spouse of 24 years to her husband, an Active Duty U.S. Marine. Crystal and her family have experienced 8 deployment cycles as well as a move to Okinawa, Japan for a 3-year tour of duty. As a mother of 3, she understands what it means to serve alongside her spouse. Crystal’s professional career includes 15 years working within the for-profit sector and the military family community. Well versed in leading military family programs for the United States Marine Corps, she connects those families to community resources that help them thrive. Crystal has volunteered in various aspects throughout her life from tutoring fellow students as a teen to assisting in various squadron events and supporting other spouses in her husband’s many units. She has been a vital part of PTA and class mom for her children’s schools for a number of years. She has also been a Sunday school teacher, and most recently she is involved with the Woman’s Club of Vista and the Fallbrook HS Student of the Month Committee. Understanding the importance of community support, Crystal tries to give back as much as she is able.
Crystal’s favorite BSF program is the Arts Program which includes Museums and Parks. These two programs each offer a wonderful opportunity that allows couples and families alike to get out, enjoy the outside and enrich their minds. With the diversity of museums in the programs all tastes of the arts from hands on in the children’s museums to fine art. With so many national parks with a whole different diversity on their own from hiking, camping, lakes, mountains, and icebergs (the list goes on) who wouldn’t want to take part?
