Diane Linen Powell

Diane L. Powell is a private investor, advisor and director of businesses and non-profits. She sits on five nonprofit boards, and as chair of the investment committee of the largest one ($700+ million in assets), she managed endowment funds producing 97th percentile returns over 8 years. She has served on audit and finance committees, and consults in marketing and communications for a diverse group of industry start-ups and an energy conglomerate.

For two decades, Ms. Powell was the Chair of Des Plaines Publishing, the largest printer of ethnic newspapers in the Midwest. Ms. Powell’s previous business associations include: NBC – executive responsible for publicity on “Saturday Night Live” and NBC’s all-news radio network, affiliate relations and corporate vice presidencies; International Family Channel (NYSE) – executive vice president for communications and investor relations; Communications Equity Associates – investment banker (NASD Series 7), and Lifescape Internet in Virginia. She was on the Board of Visitors of Virginia Commonwealth University.

Ms. Powell served on the Dean’s International Council (Harris School of Public Policy, University of Chicago), The Ahh Haa Arts School Board in Telluride, Colorado.  She completed the Harvard Business School (HBS) Boot Camp for Non-Profit Boards. She is a Board Member of the Harvard Business School Club of greater Washington. She also currently serves on the board of the Jordan River Foundation.

Ms. Powell is married to Edward (Ned) Powell, who served as President and CEO of the USO (the premier organization supporting active military) and Acting Deputy Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Ms. Powell has a BA, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania; an MA from Sussex University, England; and an MBA from Harvard.
