Research and Policy Analyst
Jennifer Hurwitz is a Research and Policy Analyst for Blue Star Families. As a military spouse for the past nineteen years, she has volunteered and worked in a variety of roles that help to support military families. In 2014, Jennifer joined the OCONUS team of Blue StarFamilies’ Chapter Directors while her family was stationed at the US Embassy in London; she wanted to inspire others to become involved and spread awareness about issues that impact military families. After moving back to the United States in 2016, she began volunteering with the Research and Policy team, quickly became an independent contractor for the annual survey, and then was asked to join the team as a part-time employee in 2017.
Jennifer has a master’s degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from EasternIllinois University and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has worked as a speech-language pathologist, teacher, university professor, and researcher.
In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys the three R’s—running, reading, and relaxing— with her AirForce husband, tween daughter, and rescue pup.
