Jill Gaitens, Ed.D. is a Senior Development Manager at Blue Star Families, responsible for facilitating resource development to sustain chapter growth and program delivery. Jill has over 20 years in the development field and brings an exceptional commitment to supporting the unique needs of military families.

A seasoned educator with an entrepreneurial spirit, Jill has led the opening of 10 schools in four states as a principal and school director, served as a grant director for one of the largest school divisions in Virginia, and funded the implementation and expansion of programs as a director for the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC). She has served on both the Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children and the Virginia Council on Women advocating for military friendly policies and practices.

Jill finds the greatest joy in developing resources to sustain high quality initiatives that improve the lives of military families. Jill is an advocate for partnership development and collaboration in communities to build networks of support.

Jill holds a Doctorate in Educational Policy, Planning and Leadership from the College of William and Mary, a Masters in Educational Leadership from Arizona State University and an undergraduate degree in Human Resources from Oakland University.
Both of Dr. Gaitens parents served in the Army and she is married to a United States Marine, who continues to serve after 20 years active duty, as a NJROTC Instructor. She has three sons of whom she is extremely proud, one of whom is also a Marine.
