Bio

Joanna Guldin is the Senior Produced Media Manager for Blue Star Families. Guldin earned her B.A. in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing and a minor in Women’s Studies from Penn State’s Schreyer’s Honors College. She graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University and spent five years as a high school English educator in the Baltimore City Public School System as a member of Teach For America. As a new military spouse, she built a freelancing portfolio which included bylines with USMCLife, NextGen MilSpouse, Military Spouse Magazine, Military Kids’ Life, Military.com, MilitaryOneClick, Urbanite, and the Huffington Post. She taught as an adjunct faculty member for Johns Hopkins University and was a consultant for UClass, an educational technology start-up that was bought by Renaissance Learning. She is the voice behind Jo, My Gosh! a popular military spouse lifestyle blog, co-authored the book The Modern Military Spouse (2015), and was a ghostwriter for a business memoir.

Most recently, Guldin was the managing editor of MilitaryOneClick for three years where she wrote more than 400 articles, edited more than 1,000 articles, led a group of more than 100 influencers and writers, and worked with clients to create authentic branded, sponsored content.

Guldin sits on the Board of Directors for Compeers of Lebanon County, has served on the Milspo Project’s Advisory Board, and is a Phi Beta Kappan and a Rotarian. She experienced five years of military life as her husband served in the Navy, including a year-long deployment to Afghanistan and two PCS moves. After he transitioned out in 2016 they opened Swatara Coffee Co. LLC, an independent coffee shop in Joanna’s hometown near Fort Indiantown Gap, PA. An advocate of the arts, reading, and National Parks, Guldin is especially passionate about Blue Star Museums, Books on Bases, and Blue Star Parks.
