Mara Motherway is the Head of Government Relations for Booz Allen Hamilton as of June 1, 2017. She previously led Business Development for Booz Allen Hamilton’s Military Intelligence markets. Prior to joining Booz Allen, Mara was the Director of Special Projects and Strategic Captures for BAE Systems Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Electronic Systems.

Mara served as an Intelligence Officer in the United States Navy for 21 years and has extensive strategic and operational DoD and Intelligence Community experience. Mara served aboard ships and deployed as both the Targeteer for a Carrier Air Wing and the Senior Intelligence Officer for an Amphibious Ready Group during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. She also deployed to the Middle East on multiple occasions as a weapons and targeting expert for a range of crisis and contingency operations.

While in the military, her strategic assignments included Deputy, Joint Intelligence Task Force Combating Terrorism (JITF-CT) for Crisis Support; Special Assistant to the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff for Indications and Warning; Acting Director, Defense Intelligence Agency office of Congressional Affairs; Congressional Liaison to HPSCI and SASC; Senior Advisor to the Secretary of the Navy and Chief of Naval Operations for current intelligence; Executive Officer to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information Dominance; and Senior Strategic
Advisor to the Director, Defense Intelligence Agency.

Mara earned a B.S. in Political Science from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1992, an MPA from Harvard University in 2001, and an M.S. in National Resource Strategy (Distinguished Graduate) from National Defense University’s Industrial College of the Armed Forces in 2011. She resides in McLean, VA with her husband Bill and children, Jack and Alicia.
