Vicky Perkins

BSF-Vicky-Perkins

Senior Director, Impact Programs

Navy Spouse

Vicky began volunteering with Blue Star Families in 2014 when her husband, Lieutenant Commander, J. Christopher “Chris” Perkins was stationed in Quantico, Virginia. The following year, she moved to Florida and became the Jacksonville Regional Director supporting military families in the surrounding community. One move and one promotion later, Vicky continues her work with BSF in Norfolk, Virginia. Currently, she serves an integral part of the team implementing a three-year NEH funded grant Serving, Thriving, And Reading Together (START). In addition, Vicky continues her outreach in the community providing support and solutions to the challenges facing military families.

Vicky holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree for Education from Notre Dame of Maryland University. She taught third grade for two years at William Tyler Page Elementary School in Montgomery County, Maryland. In 2003, Vicky married Chris following his graduation from Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, beginning their journey as a Naval Aviator family. Vicky and Chris have 3 children.

Vicky’s favorite Blue Star Families Program is Blue Star Books. The opportunity to visit military-impacted schools and encourage literacy among students, whether it be talking with them, reading together, completing a craft, or giving them new books to start a home library, is so rewarding! Attending events and creating smiling faces on military children when they pick a book for free fuel Vicky’s passion for the program!
