Businesses / Community Organizations
It has been a long fight for military and Veteran families for the past 20 years, and we are still on duty. Military-connected families are in our communities and need our support! Due to frequent moves and transitions, the task of establishing a sense of belonging to a community is far from easy for these families. It is not too early to pledge your support for Blue Star Welcome Week 2022! We’re looking for businesses, nonprofits, philanthropists, and others to move us toward our goal of making Blue Star Welcome Week a much-anticipated yearly event. We want to continue raising national awareness and enthusiasm around the need to create moments of welcome for military and Veteran families during Welcome Week and all year long.
Help us welcome them home!
It is as easy as 1-2-3!
We appreciate the support of businesses and organizations like yours that are invested in Blue Star Welcome Week, which takes place each year during the last week of September. There are plenty of other ways you can get involved to make your community a welcoming space for military and Veteran families.
Start a New Blue Star Chapter in Your Area
Our local Blue Star Chapters are connectors for the thousands of military families moving each year into new homes, new jobs, and new schools. We know that the first few months of landing in a new community are crucial to creating a sense of belonging. Blue Star Families is that warm embrace that allows military and Veteran families to thrive.
We consider and launch new chapter locations based on various factors, including the currently-serving population, available funding resources, and volunteer support in a chosen locale. Military and local government endorsement is also highly desired to help jumpstart the new chapter's growth. New chapters require a multi-year commitment of funding to cover operational expenses. Funding can come from a single source or be divided amongst a consortium of funders from the local community. Are you ready to play a key role in making a difference for our military-connected families?
Buy paracord bracelets for your employees
Become more connected to your community by having your employees wear Blue Star Welcome paracord bracelets! The red, white, and blue colors represent military and Veteran families of all service branches, and the yellow ribbon represents a commitment to welcome military and Veteran families to their new neighborhoods.
How to Wear the Bracelet:
Left Wrist - Show support. Express that you are here to welcome military and Veteran families who have moved to your community.
Right Wrist - Request a welcome. Show that you are a military and Veteran family who would appreciate a welcome from your neighbors.
Hire Military Spouses and Veterans
Hire Military Spouses
Military spouses are adaptable, accustomed to dealing with stress and pressure, and they are committed to service beyond self. If you would like to gain a valuable team member, hire a military spouse.
Veterans bring leadership skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to your business, among many other excellent qualities they sharpened during their time in the military.
