Blue Star Families and The White Oak Collaborative to Host Current Events Town Hall: Global Events and You: What Military Families Want to Know

[Washington, D.C.] – Blue Star Families announced today that the organization will hold a virtual town hall with the National Security Council, the Department of Defense, and The White Oak Collaborative on February 6th at 3 PM ET / 2 PM CT / 1 PM MT / 12 PM PT.

The primary objective of this virtual town hall is to disseminate crucial information and address queries from military families currently grappling with uncertainty and challenges stemming from current global events. The town hall will feature esteemed experts and individuals from the NSC and DOD, such as John Kirby the National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, with pertinent experience who will delve into the pressing global issues affecting families. Military families can also submit questions for the town hall, which will provide insight into what they really have on their minds.

As military families watch conflict continue around the globe, Blue Star Families stands in support of those families who may be impacted during these extremely challenging times. Blue Star Families’ goal extends beyond providing information from trustworthy sources; we seek to foster a sense of togetherness and unity within the military community. The town hall will feature speakers John Kirby and Jason Israel from the NSC and Laura Cooper and Dan Shapiro from the DOD.

“Because the U.S. military is so vital to global security, our military families are very attuned to current events. While many Americans may observe events casually on the news from afar, for military families it’s personal — they want to understand and they appreciate hearing from the experts if their country calls on their service member to respond,” said Blue Star Families CEO, Kathy Roth-Douquet. “We know that our military families are more resilient when they have the information and resources they need to reduce or respond to uncertainty. We are grateful to our government colleagues for their willingness to directly engage with military families across the globe during this important conversation.”

Blue Star Families is the nation’s largest and fastest-growing, community-based organization supporting military and Veteran families. Interested viewers can register for the livestream.
