Military families hit harder by inflation than civilians
Blue Star Families’ Military Family Lifestyle Survey shows top concerns of active-duty military families, including military pay, while military household income has not kept up with that of civilian counterparts.
New study reveals female service members show stronger commitment to military service
Female service members are more committed and more likely to recommend service to a young family member than their male counterparts, according to a recent study. The 2024 Military Family Lifestyle Survey conducted by Blue Star Families – a nonprofit founded in 2009 to help support military families – showed that on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being very likely), female respondents averaged 5.42 when asked if they would recommend service while males averaged 4.46.
Military Families Think US Will Be Involved in ‘Major Conflict’ Soon
A survey has found that over 80% of military families think the U.S. will be involved in a “major conflict” soon. Blue Star Families, an organization dedicated to supporting military families that also researches military life, surveyed 5,573 active-duty military families for the Military Family Lifestyle Survey and found that 83% believe the U.S. will be involved in a “major conflict” within the next 3-5 years.
Majority of troops and military families believe large-scale war is on the horizon, survey finds
The latest Military Family Lifestyle Survey by Blue Star Families, a nonprofit aimed at advocating for military families, released its 2024 results on Tuesday. The survey polled 5,573 respondents, about half of whom were spouses or partners of current troops. The rest were a mix of Veterans, families of Vets and currently serving members in active duty, National Guard and Reserve service. With stress high amid the ongoing global tensions, the survey shows 83% of active-duty military families believe a major conflict is around the corner.
With military housing costs skyrocketing, Democratic senators request Pentagon action
Rising costs are especially hard on active-duty service members’ families, who receive an allowance from the Defense Department to cover the costs of owning or renting privately managed housing. Although the department has increased the allowances in recent years, they remain insufficient for most active-duty families, according to a new survey conducted by Blue Star Families, a nonprofit organization founded in 2009 by military spouses.
