Kendall Notes That Blue Star Families’ Annual Survey Provides “Data-Driven Insights” for Recruitment and Retention

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall praised Blue Star Families’ “data-driven” Military Family Lifestyle Survey as “critical” to the military’s efforts for recruitment.

“By identifying and focusing on the challenges that matter to our military families, we can build the connection and belonging that allows our Airmen and Guardians to serve to their full potential,” Kendall said in a statement.

Kendall continued: “The Military Family Lifestyle Survey is critical to that effort. It shows us where we’re making progress and where we have work to do. It gives us data-driven insights to recruit and retain the best people our country has to offer.”

Blue Star Families’ Military Family Lifestyle Survey was conducted from May 24 — July 17, 2023, in collaboration with Syracuse University’s D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). The survey was also made possible by support from Blue Star Families funders, including The USAA Foundation, Lockheed Martin, Macy’s Inc., Northrop Grumman, and CSX. Additional support for Blue Star Families was provided by craig newmark philanthropies and the Patrick McGovern Foundation.
