Blue Star Families CEO Kathy Roth-Douquet Praises House Quality of Life Panel for Support of Military Families

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Blue Star Families’ co-founder and CEO, Kathy Roth-Douquet, commended the efforts of the House Armed Services Committee Quality of Life Panel in its unwavering support for military families.

Hello! I am Kathy Roth-Douquet, co-founder and CEO of Blue Star Families, the nation’s largest military family support organization, with 280,000 members in our network and more than 1.5 million military family members engaged each year.

Co-chairs Representative Bacon and Representative Houlahan and the entire Quality of Life Panel listened to our members carefully and respectfully in compiling this report, and for that I am grateful. The world is an increasingly dangerous place and our military families are crucial to our nation’s safety; we must create the conditions for their success. Legislation addressing compensation, housing, spouse employment, child care, and access to health care respond to the on-the-ground challenges our families report. Your commitment to this cause encourages me! We ask for Congress’s support to enact the proposed legislation and enable military families both to choose to serve their nation and see their families thrive.

Roth-Douquet will be speaking at a press conference alongside bipartisan members of the House Armed Services Committee Quality of Life Panel today to discuss the findings of their final report. Also in attendance will be philanthropist and avid military family supporter Craig Newmark, Blue Star Families Board of Directors Chair Lieutenant General Gwen Bingham (Ret.), and representatives from the Military Family Advisory Network, Military Officers Association of America, and National Military Family Association. The press conference will take place at the House Triangle on Capitol Hill at 3 PM ET.
