Blue Star Families Welcomes Sabrina Huda as Senior Director of Chapter Relations

Washington, D.C. — Blue Star Families (BSF), a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting military families, is pleased to announce the addition of Sabrina Huda as Senior Director of Chapter Relations. In her new role, Huda will work with each of the organization’s local Chapters to deliver high-quality programs to local military communities.

Huda is a dedicated, empathetic, and strategic social impact leader committed to making a positive difference in the world. As a force of compassion and innovation, she strives to transform the lives of all children and families and believes in creating a world where everyone has access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

“Sabrina has a long-held passion for leading military family programming, and we could not be more pleased that she has decided to take her dedication to this community and join our Chapters team,” said Blue Star Families Chief Impact Officer Dr. Lindsay Knight.

With more than 15 years of extensive experience, Huda has collaborated with hundreds of organizations, including global nonprofits, social enterprises, and impact-focused agencies. Her journey to support military families, as a civilian, began with Sesame Workshop, where she led their military programming, a cause that became deeply personal to her. Her work there was more than just a job; it was a mission to support the silent heroes who serve our country.

Most recently, Huda served as an account director at the social impact agency, Matter Unlimited, where she led top-tier accounts in crucial areas such as racial justice, health equity, transgender rights, and ESG. During her 10-year tenure at Sesame Workshop, Huda spearheaded various initiatives reaching the most vulnerable and underserved families. In addition to supporting military families, she managed initiatives for COVID-response, food insecurity, and social justice. She led the scaling and long-term expansion of initiatives to create a deep and sustainable impact in communities nationwide. She also worked on international projects, demonstrating her commitment to making a global difference. Before her time at Sesame Workshop, Sabrina was an assistant director at Spence Chapin, focusing on domestic adoption, and as a teacher at the Barnard Center for Toddler Development.

“My most humbling professional achievement has been supporting military families — the true silent heroes,” says Huda. “I believe that it’s not just a job, but a duty as a civilian to serve those who serve our nation. At BSF, I’m committed to continuing to listen and respond to the needs of our military families, ensuring they receive the unwavering support and heartfelt recognition they deserve.”

Huda will report to Executive Vice President of Chapter Impact Meredith Terrian and work closely with BSF Chapter executive directors to provide stronger communities around military families through programs that address the unique needs of those who serve.
