Ashley Saville Promoted to Senior Vice President of External Affairs at Blue Star Families

Washington, D.C. — Blue Star Families (BSF), the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to providing support to military and veteran families, announces the promotion of Ashley Saville to Senior Vice President of External Affairs. Prior to this position, Saville served as the Senior Vice President of Development, where she drove innovative initiatives and expanded Blue Star Families’ reach, ensuring the evolving needs of those who serve our nation are met. In her new role, Saville will serve as principal fundraiser of the organization, and will also play a leadership role in representing Blue Star Families (BSF) with media and at high-level events, strategic meetings and key public engagements.

“Ashley brings a powerful combination of heart, vision, and action to this new role. Her deep commitment to military families and her talent for building game-changing partnerships make her the perfect leader to expand our impact. I’m excited to see how her passion will elevate our mission and open new doors to serve even more veterans, service members, and their loved ones,” said Kathy Roth-Douquet, Blue Star Families CEO.

With more than 15 years of experience in fundraising and sales, Ashley led development, event, and gift-planning initiatives, establishing key partnerships that advance philanthropic goals. Before joining Blue Star Families, she served as the Chief Development Officer at the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, the nation’s oldest and largest scholarship provider to military dependents. There, she oversaw the Scholarship Foundation’s annual revenue generation and attainment, policy agenda, and strategy, including government relations outreach, gift planning, and national corporate partnerships.

Ashley commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps after graduating from Kennesaw State University. While serving on active duty, Ashley was a platoon commander in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, leading convoy operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She is currently pursuing her MBA at the Marshall School of Business at USC.

“As the daughter of  dual service Air Force veterans, a veteran Marine, and spouse of an active-duty service member, my commitment to this work is deeply personal. My husband and I are raising two young boys while navigating the unique challenges of military life, and I understand how essential strong, informed communities are. In this new role, I’m focused on helping our civilian partners understand the journey of Blue Star Families — not through sympathy, but through awareness and shared purpose. When people say, ‘thank you for your service,’ we want to show them how to turn that gratitude into meaningful action. From the entertainment and sports industries to community leaders and national partners, we’re ready to collaborate with those who want to stand with Blue Star Families in powerful and lasting ways,” said Saville.
