WASHINGTON, D.C. — Blue Star Families (BSF), the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to providing support to military and veteran families, announces the addition of Elizabeth Donatelli as Senior Vice President of Communications and Brand Marketing. In this capacity, Elizabeth will lead all strategic communications, media relations, brand marketing, and events. Prior to joining Blue Star Families, Donatelli most recently served as the Vice President of Communications and Content Marketing for the National Association of Broadcaster’s Global Connections and Events.
“Blue Star Families is proud to welcome Elizabeth Donatelli as our new Senior Vice President of Communications and Brand Marketing,” said Kathy Roth-Douquet, CEO of Blue Star Families. “Elizabeth’s award-winning storytelling and deep experience in media will help us bring the voices of military families to the national stage. As the spouse of an Army veteran, she understands firsthand the challenges our families face, and she’ll be instrumental in ensuring their stories are told with authenticity and impact.”
Donatelli brings more than 20 years of experience writing, creating, and producing compelling and award-winning visual stories. She began her career as a television news reporter earning nine Emmy nominations and more than a dozen honors from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Associated Press. She later founded a video production company and her work has been recognized at film festivals including the Hollywood International Independent Documentary Awards and the Los Angeles International Film Festival. Donatelli then went on to work in journalism education, digital advertising, public relations and communications projects, and content marketing.
The Washington, D.C.-native attended the University of Southern California where she graduated with a broadcast journalism degree from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and a minor in critical approaches to leadership.
She has served on the USC Annenberg Alumni Advisory Council since 2018 and received the prestigious USC Widney Alumni House Volunteer Award last year. Donatelli has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, NBC’s Nightly News, and the Weather Channel, among other networks.
“I’m thrilled to join Blue Star Families and help amplify the incredible work this organization is doing to strengthen military families,” said Donatelli. “As both a storyteller and the spouse of an Army veteran, I’m honored to build on such a strong brand and vibrant community.”
