Join Blue Star Families and Wilderness Inquiry for a day of paddling, play, and connection! Co-hosted with US Forest Service, Mystic River Watershed, and Mass Audubon

🌊About the Experience 

Climb aboard a 24-foot canoe—each vessel holds up to 10 people and is led by a trained Wilderness Inquiry Boat Captain. Their expert outdoor educators will provide training and support—no experience needed!

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Open to individuals and families of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
🦺 PFDs (life vests) will be provided for participants over 30 lbs. If your child is under 30 lbs, please bring your own PFD.

After you RSVP through this page, your Wilderness Inquiry registration link will be included in your Neighborhood confirmation email. Be sure to complete it to secure your canoe spot! (Wilderness Inquiry has its own registration requirements, which are separate from ours.)

👕 T-Shirts Required

Wearing a Blue Star Families t-shirt is required to participate.
When completing your RSVP, please include t-shirt sizes for all attendees so we can make sure everyone is outfitted and ready for the water!

🏞️ Land Activities & Lunch

When you're not on the water, enjoy self-led land-based activities and explore the beauty of Magazine Beach with other military families.

🥪 Families are encouraged to bring their own picnic lunches and take breaks as needed. Water and light snacks will be provided.

Day of Event Info:

📝 Registration & Check-In

Upon arrival, check in at the welcome table to:

• Sign the required liability release (you’ll receive a stamp & sticker once completed)

• Be assigned to a specific paddle group

🕙 Paddle Sessions

Each family will be assigned a paddle group during check-in:

• 10:30 AM – 11:15 AM

• 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM

• 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM

• 1:15 PM – 2:00 PM

Please arrive at the boat launch 15 minutes before your scheduled session.
