WASHINGTON, D.C. – Blue Star Families, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening military families by connecting them with their neighbors, today announces the addition of three new members to the Board of Directors. Appointments include Bryan Tucker, Vice President of Corporate Communications for CSX.; Lieutenant General (Ret) Gwendolyn Bingham, the former Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management; and Lieutenant General (Ret) Christopher Bogdan, Senior Vice President for Booz Allen Hamilton.
“With recent mass deployments in the wake of tensions with Iran and ongoing military missions taxing military families, the work of Blue Star Families is more urgent than ever,” said Kathy Roth Douquet, CEO of Blue Star Families. “That’s why Board Chair Sheila Casey and I are very excited to announce three outstanding new board members for our organization. First, Bryan Tucker of CSX Corporation brings the insight of one of America’s Fortune 500 companies, featuring an employee base with close connections to the military. CSX is one of Blue Star Families’ key partners and is helping us expand our reach significantly to meet the demands of the military families we serve. Second, Chris Bogdan brings his experience as a senior leader in the Air Force, a retired Lieutenant General, and a top executive in the aerospace and consulting industry. His innovative approach will undoubtedly support our growth. Last but not least, Lieutenant General (retired) Gwen Bingham, who recently served as head of Army Installation Command, brings a close connection to Army families and community-level concerns that are key to military families’ lives. We are thrilled to have the collective knowledge and experience of these three outstanding individuals on our side as we continue our efforts to empower military families, forging connections between them and the communities in which they live.”
Bryan Tucker
In his role with CSX, Tucker oversees teams responsible for brand, marketing, employee communications, media relations, digital platforms and community investment including CSX’s signature Pride in Service initiative. Before joining CSX, Tucker worked as director of media relations at Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. He also served as director of media relations at Rio Tinto, a global metals and minerals company, and senior manager of public affairs and media relations at the Canadian National Railway. Tucker earned a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University.
Lieutenant General Gwendolyn “Gwen” Bingham (U.S. Army – retired)
Bingham retired from the United States Army in 2019 after serving as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management. She has deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and has served in a myriad of leadership roles throughout her military career. Bingham is the recipient of numerous military awards including the Distinguished Service Medal (with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster); Defense Superior Service Medal; Legion of Merit (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters); Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster); Meritorious Service Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters); Joint Service Commendation Medal among others. Bingham graduated with a General Business degree and as an Army ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of Alabama. She holds master’s degrees from Central Michigan University and the National Defense University.
Lieutenant General Christopher “Chris” Bogdan (U.S. Air Force – retired)
Serving as a leader in Booz Allen’s aerospace business, Bogdan works to deliver transformational solutions for the services, Department of Defense (DoD), NASA, and commercial clients. As an integrator and architect of air and space warfighting capabilities, Bogdan and the Booz Allen aerospace group are working to improve DoD’s ability to fight from space. Prior to joining Booz Allen, Bogdan was a 34-year U.S. Air Force officer, retiring as a lieutenant general in 2017. Bogdan holds an M.S. in engineering management from California State University and an M.S. in national resource strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. In addition, he holds a B.S. in aeronautical engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he earned the Outstanding Cadet in Aeronautical Engineering Award.
