“In my dedication to remaining part of the military community I have spent years of volunteering through different avenues, such as being a Family Readiness Group (FRG) President and an Ombudsman for multiple commands,” Katti, Navy spouse, recently told Blue Star Families. “These avenues allowed me to help military families directly with military life struggles and triumphs.”

Katti served honorably and faithfully for 12 years in the U.S. Navy. While in service, she ended up meeting and marrying a fellow sailor.  They’ve been together for six years and have two young boys now.

Today, as a veteran and dedicated military spouse, Katti loves connecting military families with their local community. She does this daily as a civil service employee and volunteer for Blue Star Families.

Because of Katti’s efforts, her local Navy community is fueled with the resources they need to thrive. That’s why we’ve selected her to be a “Champion of Chunky!”

Hold up. What’s a Champion of Chunky?

“Champions of Chunky” is a campaign we launched with Campbell’s Chunky Soupour awesome Blue Star Neighborthrough the end of February. We’re recognizing military family champions holding down the fort in support of their service member who works long days and nights to keep Americans safe. Together, we’re fueling these rock stars all winter long with Champions of Chunky care packages.

Not to mention, this campaign is part of the Campbell Soup Company and Dollar General Corporation’s pledge to give back to military families. These companies recently teamed up to create limited-edition cans of two best-selling flavors of Chunky Soup: Classic Chicken Noodle and Sirloin Burger with Country Vegetables. As part of the initiative, a monetary donation will be made to Blue Star Families. (And you know we’ll put those funds to good use, providing members like YOU free access to our annual programs and events! ?)

But, the real winners here are the folks making a significant difference in their communities, like Katti.

So, to celebrate the conclusion of the campaign, here’s a glimpse into Katti’s real-life, mil-life, and a short overview as to why we selected her as a “Champion of Chunky!”

Get to know Katti:

Katti is a Navy veteran who served from 2001 to 2013. Today, she’s a proud veteran and military spouse. Her husband is an active-duty sailor who has served for over 21 years. Together, they have two young boys, and they currently reside in Florida. Katie works full-time as a civil service employee, where she assists sailors in her community every day.

While Katti may have separated from the Navy, she never stopped giving her time and talents to the military community. Over the years, she’s volunteered as an FRG leader and Ombudsman. These outlets have enabled her to assist MilFams through their struggles and triumphs, which she loves doing!

In her spare time, Katti also supports military-affiliated nonprofits like Blue Star Families. She chose this organization because her passion is bridging the military-civilian divide?. Through BSF, Katti can provide her local community with a variety of resources and support.

She recently told us that she’s dedicated to the U.S. military and loves being part of the community. Ultimately, she will continue to serve military families as long as she can.

All that to say, it’s obvious why we named Katti a “Champion of Chunky!” Blue Star Families and Campbell’s Chunky Soup have recognized a total of six “Champions of Chunky.”
