Blue Star Families is proud to support and partner with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. This long-standing relationship, and now a formalized partnership, will bring much needed resources to Blue Star Families members. According to the 2019 annual Military Family Lifestyle Survey, 49% of veterans stated that their top issue of concern was access to VA/military health care. Additionally, 38% felt a top issue was the understanding of military and veteran experiences by the wider population. Over the next five years, the Veterans Administration expects approximately 250,000 service members to transition to veteran status, annually. Together, with Blue Star Families, the VA continues to be committed to improving the outcomes for transitioning service members and their families.
Did you realize that there are currently over 17.4 million veterans in the United States? Almost nine million veterans are served each year by the Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Facilities. Blue Star Families launched over 10 years ago with a focus on active duty military and their families, offering services and support that was falling short at the installation level as the Global War on Terror was beginning to take a toll. Every service member will eventually leave active service and they will forever be a veteran of this country, deserving continued support, resources and a way to stay connected. Our job is to make sure that we continue to be a voice for all service members along their military life journey.
