Movies Anywhere helped military families feel more connected with a series of watch parties where families could have a movie night together, even while being miles apart. The video hub utilized its newest Screen Pass feature to let families share their Movies Anywhere video collection with loved ones, and then shared a movie experience watching simultaneously with the Watch Together feature.
Movies Anywhere partnered with Operation Homefront and Blue Star Families, both organizations that work with both active military and veterans, to create these movie night events. Each family sent Screen Passes of The Karate Kid to each other and were able to co-view with the new Watch Together Feature. Movies Anywhere sent each family a movie watching kit complete with snacks and blankets. Families even got a special thank you video from the Karate Kid himself, Ralph Macchio.
“We are grateful to Movies Anywhere for providing a special evening of family entertainment for wounded veterans and their loved ones who live in our transitional housing apartments,” said DJ Purvis, Director of Operation Homefront’s Transitional Housing Village in San Antonio, Texas. “These families are going through difficult transitions out of the military, and this wonderful opportunity offered an evening of respite and enjoyment for all who participated.”
“Serving in the military often requires long bouts of time away for deployments, training missions, and temporary duty assignments. Service members and their families can go months without spending a fun together evening doing something as simple as watching a movie together. Movies Anywhere helped create that sense of normalcy for these families despite the vast distance between them,” said Meghan Wieten-Scott, Senior Manager for Outreach and National Events at Blue Star Families.
