One Way Veteran & Military Families Can Save Big on Your Holiday Groceries at Amazon

Published: December 1, 2022

Did you know? In a 2020 study, one in seven enlisted military families reported experiencing food insecurity. Now more than ever, with the rising cost of food and the expensive holiday season in full effect, our Blue Star Partners, like the Amazon Community Access Team, are asking how they can help those in need. Together we discovered that you might have access to incredible savings on Amazon groceries with or without a Prime Membership if your military family qualifies for SNAP (food stamps) EBT.

Wait. How do I know if I qualify for SNAP EBT?

It’s easy, but first, SNAP, if you don’t know, stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and is designed to provide low-income families with the necessary resources to purchase food. It comes as an EBT card for grocery stores or farmer’s markets. The program is for low-income households. To be eligible, you must meet a set of requirements, which Amazon and mRelief make easy for Veteran and military families to determine if you qualify by texting “Eat” to 74544 or visiting mrelief.com/amazon.

Veterans shouldn’t have an issue qualifying, but some military families do because our Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) sometimes disqualifies us from federal programs like SNAP. Since 2020 Blue Star Families’ Nourish the Service program has been leading the way in collecting the data, stories, and support needed to address this issue. We have a ways to go in helping to solve the problem, so in the meantime, we recommend you contact your local SNAP office with questions about eligibility if you come up short using mRelief’s resource.

That said, the savings are for real on Amazon for those with a SNAP EBT card.

Tell me more.

Veteran and military families with SNAP can enjoy EBT discounts, free access to Amazon Fresh, 50% off Prime, free grocery delivery, and more at Amazon.com/SNAP.

With a common goal of making groceries more accessible to our Veteran and military community, we’re sharing Amazon’s SAP program with you because we’d hate for your military family to miss out. We promise the savings will be worth your time, so do the research today to see if you qualify.
