The Walt Disney Company Builds on Its Commitment to Celebrating Military Families
Camp Pendleton, CA – On June 8, 2024, Marine Base Camp Pendleton will host a family event as part of Blue Star Families’ Blue Star Books Program in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company. Disney Publishing has contributed more than 300,000 books to the Blue Star Books
program. This event, organized by Blue Star Families with support from MCCS, invites U.S. military children and their families from the Camp Pendleton area to attend and receive free kids’ books as well as participate in other activities, including storytelling by military leadership and Disney VoluntEARS from the Disneyland Resort and reading- themed crafts. Guest speakers and readers include:

- Ariel Elias, Manager, Supplier Diversity (SALUTE/former Marine), Disney

In the 2023 Military Family Lifestyle Survey, 60% of active-duty families stated they had moved four or more times due to their service member’s orders, and 36% had a permanent change of station move in the last year.
“Frequent changes in schools, friends, teachers, and classroom curriculums pose significant challenges for military children and their parents,” said Blue Star Families Chief Operating Officer Noeleen Tillman. “Military families must re-establish support networks with each relocation, and collaborative events such as this one, which bring parents and kids together, are vital for fostering the sense of community that the military families here need.”
