Vicky Perkins Promoted to Vice President of Programs at Blue Star Families

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Blue Star Families (BSF), the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to providing support to military and Veteran families, announces the promotion of Vicky Perkins to Vice President of Programs. In this capacity, she will oversee a diverse portfolio of programs, including Caregiver, Veteran, and Suicide-Prevention Support Circles; Outdoors; Campaign for Inclusion, Careers; Museums; and Books. Prior to her promotion, Perkins served for nine years as Senior Director of Impact Programs.

“Vicky’s deep commitment to our mission and our members makes her the perfect leader to take our programs to the next level — she lives and breathes the BSF ethos. We are excited to see the continued positive change she will bring to our organization and the Veterans, service members, and families we serve every day,” said Lindsay Knight, Chief Impact Officer.

Vicky holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Notre Dame of Maryland University and previously taught third grade for two years at William Tyler Page Elementary School in Montgomery County, Maryland. Vicky is a Naval Aviator spouse, currently based in Jacksonville, Florida, where she and her husband Chris have raised three wonderful children.

“I remain deeply committed to serving military families, ensuring they have the resources and support they need throughout their journey. As a military spouse for the past 21 years, I understand firsthand the challenges military families face, and I will bring this insight to my role at Blue Star Families. As Vice President of Programs, I am dedicated to expanding the reach and impact of programs that empower military families to thrive in any community. I will continue to lead with passion and positivity, driving innovative solutions and fostering resilience, so military families can feel supported and connected no matter where they live.” said Perkins.
