Blue Star Families Honors Military Spouses with Expanded Week of Celebration, Events, and Giveaways for Military Spouse Appreciation Day

Part Of National Military Appreciation Month, Blue Star Families Highlights The Vital Contributions Of Military Spouses and Families

WASHINGTON, D.C., — In honor of Military Spouse Appreciation Day on May 9th, Blue Star Families, the leading nonprofit representing military families, is expanding the celebration into a special weeklong commemoration recognizing the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of military spouses. From May 5th to 9th, Blue Star Families will host a series of special events, giveaways, and community activities designed to uplift and thank spouses for their vital role in supporting service members and the nation.

Blue Star Families has partnered with incredible brands like T-Mobile, COACH, Starbucks, and more to bring exclusive giveaways and meaningful surprises, to honor the strength of military spouses. Blue Star Families Chapters across the country are hosting special events spotlighting local spouses and military families in recognition of Military Spouse Appreciation Day and National Military Appreciation Month.  For more information about the special events, both virtual and in-person, and giveaways, visit the Blue Star Neighborhood, the largest digital community solely focused on supporting military-connected families.

For example, in the New York Metro region, on May 12th, Blue Star Families, along with T-Mobile, will host a special tribute to military spouses with a comedy event at Fort Hamilton Distillery. The two organizations will welcome 100 Brooklyn-area military spouses for an evening of laughter featuring acclaimed comedian and Air Force veteran spouse Ashley Gutermuth. The Jacksonville Chapter is teaming up with COACH to host an afternoon of shopping at the COACH fulfillment center. Other events include special Coffee Connects, sporting events, teas, and more.

“Without military spouses we don’t have a U.S. military. So, this is a great time to celebrate them and to support them because, if mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy,” said Kathy Roth-Douquet, CEO of Blue Star Families.

To round out the month of May — National Military Appreciation Month — partners are doing their part to show continued support.
