Doug Belair

Doug Belair is the President of Two8 Strategy, a group of senior ex-aerospace and defense industry executives providing consulting support in the areas of strategy development and implementation, portfolio shaping and business optimization, and acquisition and divestiture process planning and execution. Mr. Belair retired from BAE Systems, Inc. in December 2016 as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development. In this role, which he assumed in 2009, he led all phases of strategic planning and implementation process across the Electronics, Land Platforms, and IT/Tech Services sectors. Mr. Belair also led portfolio shaping and white space initiatives including acquisition and divestiture activity, successfully completing 27 transactions.

Prior to his headquarters position, Mr. Belair was President of BAE Systems Technology Solutions and Services (TSS). As President of TSS, a role he assumed in June 2006, Mr. Belair had full P&L responsibility and led more than 8,000 employees across 50 major locations to deliver technical solutions to customers for products at any point in their life-cycle, anywhere in the world.

Mr. Belair began his career in 1979 with General Electric Defense Systems as a software engineer and received his MBA from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University. In 1993, when GE sold the business to Lockheed Martin, Mr. Belair accepted a program management position in the new company. There, his team developed an incremental modernization approach to cost-effectively upgrade a major weapon system over a ten-year period. As a result, Mr. Belair received the Lockheed Martin Corporate Nova Award for Strategic Excellence.

In 1997, Lockheed Martin assigned Mr. Belair the broad responsibility for transforming military technologies into applications for the commercial marketplace. Over a two-year period, his teams successfully introduced liquid propellant technology into the automotive airbag industry and transferred computer-based diagnostics developed for the U.S. Navy into an automotive maintenance system for Chrysler Corporation.

In early 1999, Mr. Belair joined General Dynamics and accepted the challenge to build on his previous commercial successes. In June 2000, he directed several acquisitions and was named General Manager of TechSight, a commercial business unit selling electronic documentation and computer-based diagnostics technology to the airline, automotive and educational markets.

Mr. Belair joined BAE Systems in 2002 and was named the Vice President of the Undersea Warfare Division in February 2003. He lives in Germantown, Maryland with his wife Sue.
