By now, we’re sure you’ve heard the news about our #HomeHaircutChallenge, right?
But, maybe you’re asking why? Why did we create such a thing?
And the answer is pretty simple.
The fight against COVID-19 has impacted our MilFams in a big way. So, we wanted to raise awareness and support via the #HomeHaircutChallenge, while bringing the nation together VIRTUALLY to brighten spirits as we wade through unchartered territory, together.
Most importantly, the proceeds from this virtual fundraiser allow us to continue to create the programs and expertise needed to empower military families during this time.

The #HomeHaircutChallenge is a fun and easy way to be a part of Giving Tuesday Now on May 5th—a global day of giving and unity in response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
All you have to do is the following:
- Perform a home haircut on yourself or someone else.
- If your circumstances allow, donate the money you saved by doing it yourself here.
- Share a photo or video of your efforts on social media and tag @BlueStarFamilies along with the hashtag #HomeHaircutChallenge. (Be sure to include whether you #NailedIt or #FailedIt.) Then, challenge a friend or family member to keep the movement going!
