While we’re in the height of summertime, the warm temperatures can have your family trying to find ways to chill out and avoid the hottest hours of the day. Luckily, Blue Star Families has plenty of cool ways to enjoy the dog days of summer!
Blue Star Summer Camp
It’s not summer without camp, and while many camps have returned this season, Blue Star Summer Camp is easy to enjoy anywhere and from home…did we mention it’s free? From July 12th – 30th, campers will be part of three themed weeks of fun, including virtual field trips, activities, a weekly virtual campfire, and even special guests! Camp themes include a Summer Safari, Aerospace Adventure, and Motion in the Ocean. There are activities for children of all ages to appreciate. Haven’t signed up yet? There’s still time! Register for Blue Star Summer Camp today.
Blue Star Bingo
If you hear the omnipresent line, “Mom, I’m bored,” and you need to find something to capture your family’s attention, download a Blue Star Bingo card! The classic game gets a summertime upgrade, as numbered squares are replaced with activities and photo opportunities that players must complete.
There are several different ways to get a BINGO – the choice is yours. If your kids prefer staying indoors, they can mark off a square after they read a comic book or read with a pet. Is that silence we hear? Or, go outside as a family in the evening for a flower hunt. You can even spend the night stargazing. However your family chooses to play, once you get a BINGO, you can enter to win a prize! Download your Bingo card today.
Blue Star Museums
As you may have heard, Blue Star Museums is back again this year! Places across the country are ready to welcome you and your family with open arms. Did you know there are typically over 2,000 museums that participate in the program, and new ones join every year? You’re guaranteed to find one for everyone in the family, and what’s more, you can visit them while at home, on vacation, or even as you move across the country to the next duty station.
Do the kids need to expel some energy? Take them to CuriOdyssey in San Mateo, CA. Are you looking for a quieter day to enjoy some art? Try the Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia. It bears repeating that there’s a museum for everyone, so find your next adventure today!
No matter what you decide to do, Blue Star Families wants you to enjoy this #BlueStarSummer, and special time with family and friends. Don’t forget to take some photos of your adventures, and share them with us!
