Meet Neil, a retired Armor Officer in the Army, father of three, and dedicated husband. He served 21 years including five deployments during Operation Iraqi Freedom and has lived across the country from Texas to Hawaii. He is most excited about the final stop in his family’s journey in Kansas City, where his family recently settled into their forever home.
Neil and his family have enjoyed the many adventures of military life, but they’re most excited to be able to put down roots and take the time to enjoy all that Kansas City has to offer. Although their address has changed many times, one thing that has remained the same is the bed that moved around with them for years!
When Blue Star Families and Sleep Number®, partners for nearly a decade, heard that Neil and his wife needed a new bed to add to their forever home and that he was also a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, they knew he was deserving of a big surprise.
Neil’s wife, Heather, was in on the surprise and was able to share the lucky news with him that they won a Sleep Number i360®. What the family didn’t know was who would be delivering the bed to their home.
Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who is also part of a military family, understands what it’s like to move from place to place. Military families who are constantly on the move can find it hard to feel a sense of belonging in their local communities. So when he heard of the opportunity to help welcome the family and thank them for their years of service, he knew he had to be there.
It’s safe to say, Neil and his family are not only even bigger fans of the Chiefs now, but also the city they now call home! Sleep Number repeatedly teams up with Blue Star Families to ensure that wherever our military families go, they always feel connected, supported, well rested, and empowered to thrive in their community.
