WASHINGTON, D.C. — Blue Star Families (BSF), the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to providing support to military and Veteran families, announces the promotion of Ashley Saville to Senior Vice President of Development. Prior to her promotion, Saville served for two years as Senior Director of Community and Impact, leading Blue Star Families’ fundraising efforts and strengthening community partnerships to enhance support for military and Veteran families. In her new role, she will continue to drive innovative initiatives and expand our reach, ensuring the evolving needs of those who serve our nation are met.
“Ashley’s dedication to our mission of serving military families, along with an unwavering commitment to fostering partnerships that create lasting impact, make her the ideal leader for this critical role. I have full confidence that Ashley’s vision and passion will take our philanthropic efforts to new heights, enabling us to support even more Veterans, active-duty service members, and their families in meaningful ways,” said Kathy Roth-Douquet, Blue Star Families CEO.
With more than 15 years of experience in fundraising and sales, Ashley has effectively led development, event, and gift-planning initiatives, establishing key partnerships that advance philanthropic goals. She previously served as the Chief Development Officer at the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, the nation’s oldest and largest scholarship provider to military dependents.
In this role, she oversaw and was responsible for leading the Scholarship Foundation’s annual revenue generation and attainment, policy agenda, and strategy, including government relations outreach, gift planning, and National corporate partnerships.
Upon graduating from Kennesaw State University, Ashley was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps. While on active duty, Ashley was a platoon commander in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, leading convoy operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She is currently pursuing her MBA at the Marshall School of Business at USC.
“Stepping into the role of Senior Vice President of Development at this critical juncture is both a privilege and a profound responsibility. Leading the development effort for such an important mission — supporting military families and Veterans — requires effective leadership and technical expertise. I’m drawing on everything I’ve learned in past leadership roles to ensure our mission continues to grow and thrive, expanding partnerships and resources to drive meaningful impact,” said Saville.
