Privacy Policy
This is the website of Blue Star Families.
Our postal address is 441 Saxony The Hive/Barn 2, Encinitas, CA 92024.
We can be reached via email at [email protected] or you can reach us by telephone at [202] 630-2583.
For each visitor to our Web page, our Web server automatically recognizes only the consumer's domain name but not the e-mail address (where possible).
We collect the following information: the domain name but not the e-mail address of visitors to our Web page; the email addresses of those who post messages to our bulletin board; the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via email; aggregate information on what pages consumers access or visit; user-specific information on what pages consumers access or visit; and information volunteered by the consumer, such as survey information and/or site registrations.
The information we collect is used by us to improve the content of our Web page, to notify consumers about updates to our Website, and to contact members and supporters for marketing purposes. The information we collect is also shared with agents, contractors, and partners who assist in providing support for our internal operations and external marketing. The information we collect is further disclosed in the following instances: when legally required to do so, at the request of governmental authorities conducting an investigation, to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our Website and applicable laws or to protect against misuse or unauthorized use of our Website.
With respect to cookies: We use cookies to record past activity at a site in order to provide better service when visitors return to our site and to customize Web page content based on visitors' browser type or other information that the visitor sends.
If you supply us with your postal address on-line you will only receive the information for which you provided us your address.
As part of our programs we may collect personal information from minors that wish to participate or volunteer. We require consent from a parent when a child under the age of 13 (“child”) wants to register. We directly collect from child users during our initial registration process a parent's email address. We then obtain parental consent before collecting additional personal information regarding the child. Parents may deny consent to disclosure. Typically we collect items such as basic contact information, areas of interest, and goals associated with BSF programs. We do this actively by having the parent or child complete an online form. We will not seek and do not condition participation in BSF programs on more information than is reasonably necessary for these activities.
We do not sell any member or supporter information collected on our site or through contracted third parties. We only allow access to personal information by authorized employees, volunteers, and trusted partners.
From time to time, we may use member and supporter information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the policy changes to our Web site to notify you of these changes. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at our Web site periodically.
Members and supporters may prevent their information from being used for purposes other than those for which it was originally collected or may opt out of any disclosure of nonpublic information except where such disclosure is legally required by emailing us at [email protected].
Upon request we provide site visitors with access to a description of information that we maintain about them. Members and supporters can access this information by emailing us a request at [email protected].
