Lee Quintas

During his 35-year military career, Lee Quintas led units at every level from platoon through division command. He is a veteran with tours in Germany, Iraq, and Afghanistan. As the 3-star Deputy Commanding General of the U.S. Army Forces Command, Lee had responsibility for day-to-day operations for the Army’s largest organization, comprised of more than 750,000 soldiers and civilians. During his tenure, the command deployed more than 1,500 subordinate units comprised of 140,000 soldiers, including contingency responses to defend the American Embassy in Iraq, the COVID-19 pandemic, and evacuation operations in Kabul. To address the growing cyber threat, Lee was part of a senior-level effort to modernize and protect Army systems. As part of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts, he oversaw the leadership training for the successful assignment of women into combat formations, including Infantry, Armor, and Cavalry, and chaired the first DEI Council to develop governance and strategy for positive change. To improve safety, Lee led audits and supervised the revitalization of vehicle operator training and licensing.

As the commander of the Third Infantry Division, Lee was responsible for preparing and deploying more than 15,000 soldiers, maintaining an installation, providing care for families, and establishing positive relationships with local communities and state government. While in command, Lee led joint and multinational operations in Afghanistan. This included developing strategies to reorganize forces across the country while sustaining high-tempo operations against the Taliban and terrorist organizations. At Fort Stewart, Lee oversaw garrison efforts to improve environmental, energy, and water conservation as well as the quality of life, resulting in Army Energy and Water Management, Army Community, and Commander-in-Chief Installation Awards for Excellence.

Lee Quintas is the son of a Philippine-born, U.S. Coast Guard Vietnam War veteran. Lee and his wife, Lori, have two children, Samuel and Emma.
