Here’s How You Can Help Us Welcome Military Families New to Your Community

Published: August 26, 2020

Here at Blue Star Families, we believe we’re all stronger when we take care of one another, which is even more important now than ever.

And our trusted Blue Star Neighbors, like Starbucks, agree.

We’re so appreciative of the company’s continued commitment to military families and, together, we remain steadfast in our mission to build supportive communities and inspire connections in light of COVID-19.

How are we able to do that? Coffee Connect events!

We’d typically host these each month at Starbucks stores across the country. Around this time last yearpost-PCS season, we hosted Welcome to the Community Coffee Connects at more than 50 locations, with the help of Blue Star Volunteers! Families mingled with neighbors, new and old, to put together a list of must-see and try spots in the area.

This year, due to the pandemic, we knew we had to find a virtual (social-distancing-safe) yet creative way to welcome and empower MilFams who moved to a new duty station during this anything but ordinary time.

Introducing: The Blue Star Families Local Favorites Guide

While we can’t gather around a table at Starbucks right now, we hope this new virtual guide, featuring local favorites in communities across the country, will help MilFams make their new duty station feel a bit more like home.

But we need YOUR help to make it a meaningful and impactful resource.

Have a preferred pizza place? Hair salon? Biking or hiking trail? Click here* to submit your favorites because MilFams new to the community want to hear the scoop!

*The best part? If you consider yourself an “expert” on a particular location, but you’ve moved away from the area, you can still share your favoritespast or present.

Together, we can continue to build welcoming, supportive communities for our MilFams!
