Save the Date to Join Tom Hanks on Veteran’s Day
Blue Star Families, a marketing partner with Arts in the Armed Forces, announces a wonderful event to mark Veterans Day this year. Tom Hanks will discuss 2001: A Space Odyssey with Major General Charles F. Bolden Jr, USMC (Ret), 12th NASA Administrator and former astronaut, and noted actor and Marine Veteran Adam Driver. Registration is free for active duty service members and Veterans all over the world. Civilians can join the fun as well, with a small requested donation. The event will be streamed on Veterans Day, November 11, at 5 PM PT / 6 PM MT / 7 PM CT / 8 PM ET.

Movies Anywhere
We were thrilled to work with Movies Anywhere last month to celebrate the launch of Screen Pass and honor some of our service members with a virtual movie experience for them and their families. Movies Anywhere hosted a series of virtual movie nights, using its newly-launched Screen Pass and Watch Together—the Movies Anywhere functions that allow users to share access to their digital movie collection—allowing our heroes to watch films with loved ones simultaneously, even when miles apart. Our service members and their families sent Screen Passes of The Karate Kid to one another, and then used Movies Anywhere’s new co-viewing function to Watch Together, while thousands of miles apart. Ralph Macchio, star of the beloved film, even recorded a special message for the families, thanking them for everything they’ve done in service to America. To cap off the event, Movies Anywhere supplied limited-edition movie kits, complete with snacks, blankets, and other goodies to make for a cozy movie night. You can set up a co-viewing event for you and your family by signing up with Movies Anywhere here!

Watch Sky Blossom Films – a raw, candid film on today’s teens and 20-somethings caring for families with disabilities. In select theaters in all 50 states on Veteran’s Day, November 11. Limited complimentary tickets here.

Applications are now open for the 2021 Civics Unplugged Fellowship, a six-month civic leadership program that empowers high school students across the U.S. with the tools, training, and community to reform and rebuild American democracy. Learn more here.
